Meet the Staff
The Camp Abnaki staff come from around the world to serve youth.

Each member of our staff is hired after extensive interviews and
background checks. Counselors are chosen for their understanding
of boys, emotional maturity, and moral values. Every staff member
serves as a positive role model for youth. Staff are recruited from
around the country and around the world, providing campers with an
opportunity for an intercultural experience while staying close to home.
Our staff participate in an intensive, week-long staff training program includes instruction in group
dynamics, skill development, behavior management, and safety. In keeping with adopted policies
of the YMCA, all staff also receive training in how to prevent, identify, &
report incidents of child maltreatment. For a list of available

HIRING FOR SUMMER 2017
POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR

Senior Cabin Counselor
||Must be at
least 1 year out of high school. Must be male.
Previous experience with youth preferred. Must be
CPR/First Aid certified.
Commuting Day Camp Counselor
completed at least 11th grade. Must be willing to ride and
supervise the day camp bus. Previous experience working
with youth preferred. Lunch is provided. Must live on site
during staff training week.
previous sailing instruction experience. USA Sailing Level
1 certification preferred. Ability to live on site
for duration of summer preferred.
completed 11th grade. Must be male. Previous experience with
youth preferred. Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
All positions are residential and include Room & Board,
except those noted with an (*). Non-residential staff may have the
option to live on camp.
** Starting pay may
vary dependent upon qualifications, certifications, and experience. Additional salary may be given for
certifications beyond minimum requirements (Lifeguard, program
instruction certifications, etc.).

The 2017 Camp Abnaki
contracts begin June 10
for 10 week positions and June 17/18 for 9 week positions. The last day of
the season is August 19. There are also a limited number of staff
positions available during the Spring and Fall group rental season.
