Programs for your teen
Summer is just around the corner and we have a few different opportunities for our teenage campers that still have spaces left.
Open to campers who have completed 9th or 10th grade in high school (or equivalent) by the beginning of summer 2018. This is a 1-week long program that takes the campers off camp and on an adventure into the Green Mountains of Vermont to learn leadership skills in an outdoor setting. Abnaki staff will teach campers basic outdoor skills in addition to challenging them to grow through adventure-based activities on the trail. This option runs from August 12 – 18.
This program is camp-based with daily trips off camp to provide community service to organizations with camp ties in our local community. We will work with organizations that help support the environment in Vermont (Lake Champlain Basin Program, State Parks, etc) and/or have been a mainstay of the Vermont way of living (Island Arts, local farms, etc). Days will be spent volunteering while learning about the organization and evenings will be spent on camp; enjoying traditional camp activities with the rest of camp. This option is open to campers who have completed 9th or 10th grade (or the equivalent) by the summer of 2018. Dates for the Service Leadership Program are July 8 – July 14.
Our overnight camp program is open to campers who have completed 10th grade (or the equivalent) or younger. Coming back to camp in this age group provides a unique leadership opportunity for those campers enrolled. Younger campers look up to them while they get to still take part in our traditional camp experience. Many campers enjoy this adventure as a new way of enjoying camp. It’s a great way to go back to camp one more time before thinking about getting a job and working the summer away. Sessions are listed on our website, with availability in all sessions.
