What are we responsible for during our time at YMCA Camp Abnaki?

You will be assigned a Camp Abnaki designee from your time booking the wedding through checkout. They will be happy to assist with your plans. They will also be available during your event and on site throughout your special weekend.

You or your designee will be responsible for doing an initial walk around of the camp property prior to other guests’ arrival and a similar walk through at the end of the rental.

Camp Abnaki is not a traditional wedding venue. This is a very “do it yourself,” venue. Please feel free to move tables and chairs, decorate, and make things work for your event. We ask that all things are returned to their original locations and that no permanent decorations are left behind. (Please no paint, glue, nails, and staples).

You are personally responsible for supervision on-site for your guests for the duration of your stay.

Camp will provide trash and recycling pick-up from pre-determined locations throughout the weekend and as needed, and will teach a designee how to operate the dishwasher. Camp staff will also provide daily bathroom cleaning and re-stocking.

You are responsible for returning Camp Abnaki buildings and grounds back to the condition they were in prior to your rental.

What is the alcoholic beverage policy?

Camp Abnaki requires a licensed bartender carrying their own liability insurance and VT liquor license to be liable at any point that alcohol is served during your rental. No glass beer bottles are allowed on camp property.

The exception to the licensed bartender is if the couple will be providing beer and wine only for their guests. This will require additional alcohol/event insurance. We also require that alcohol be served at designated times and in designated locations.

Can we bring our own food or caterer?

Yes, you can bring in any outside catering group of your choice. Your exclusive rental also gives your party and/or designated caterer access to the full Kitchen and dishwashing facilities for the duration.

Can we set up and decorate?

Yes, your party is free to decorate throughout camp during the allotted times of your rental. We require that the camp not be altered permanently during your stay and is returned to the initial conditions. Please, no nails, staples, painting or gluing for decorative purposes.

Can we have campfires?

Yes, please do. The camp staff will assist in providing firewood to the proper areas. We do ask that fires are kept to a reasonable height and size.

Can we bring our own audio/visual equipment?

Yes, you may bring your own audio/visual equipment, we can also help support your audio/visual needs. Some audio equipment is also available for rent/use

What are bathroom and cabin accommodations like?

Cabins are camp rustic buildings with 8-10 beds (bunk bed style). They do have electricity, screens, fully operational doors, and mattresses (linens and bedding are not provided). Bathrooms are centrally located fully functional bathhouses with multiple sinks, toilets, and showers.

How many wedding guests can your space accommodate?

Overnight accommodation: 40-150 (multiple villages)
Outdoor Chapel: 150 guests (seated) plus standing room
Main dining hall: 250 seated guests, 200 seated guests with Dance Floor

Do I need insurance?

Yes, Camp Abnaki requires that you provide General liability insurance up to $1,000,000 with YMCA Camp Abnaki named as additionally insured.

If you choose to provide beer and wine (no hard liquor) to your guest, we also require an additional Event/Alcohol insurance writer in combination with the General Liability insurance.

How does payment work?

You will be responsible for 25% of your minimum booking to reserve your date on our calendar. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your event.

All deposits are non-refundable, and in the event of a cancellation, we retain all deposits.

In the event of a cancellation within 30 days of the event Camp Abnaki will retain the full amount.

Payments plans are also available.

What is your pet policy?

Animals are not allowed at camp, except for certified service/guide dogs.

What is the Smoking Policy?

Camp Abnaki is a Non-Smoking Facility

How loud? And for how long?

Loud sounds and specifically amplified sounds carry easily on the lake. With respect to our neighbors, we ask for all amplified sounds to be turned off by 12 AM. Loud gatherings outside will also be asked to move indoors at that time.

How does it work to share the site with another group?

Wedding rentals are treated as exclusive. With the nature of an all-weekend celebration and the privacy of your special ceremony, we strive to limit all other groups during weddings.

Our experienced staff can customize activities to best fit your needs. Every year we host a variety of groups at our facility. These include school groups, athletic training camps, corporate staff retreats, craft groups, weddings and specialty camps. Our flexibility allows your group to take advantage of our unique offerings, some of which include:

  • Waterfront Activities (swimming, canoeing, kayaking)
  • Ropes Course
  • Climbing Wall
  • Archery
  • Sling Shot
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Teambuilding Activities
  • Large Group Games
  • Small Group Games
  • Lawn Sports
  • Campfires
  • Much more!
